  • Reds V Blues – June 20th

    A special charity match and fun day featuring ex Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United players will see funds being raised for three Sheffield charities including the Cavendish Cancer Care.

    The annual charity match, the ‘Reds V Blues’, which kicks off at 3pm at Hillsborough Arena on Saturday 20 June, has been arranged by Hillsborough FC and is in association with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and the Sheffield United Community Foundation.

    The benefiting charities for the event are Cavendish Cancer Care, the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and the Sheffield United Community Foundation.

    Former Owls players taking part include Terry Curran, Lawrie Madden, David Hirst, Julian Watts, Matty Hamshaw, Lee Peacock, Mel Sterland and Simon Marples.*

    Ex-Sheffield United players include Mark Todd, Curtis Woodhouse, Dane Whitehouse, Wayne Quinn and David Holdsworth.*

    Television personalities including Sky Sports presenter David Garrido and TV presenter Rob Lamarr will be part of the charity squad and will be joined by boxers Ryan Rhodes, Daniel Slaney and Ross The Boss Burkinshaw. *

    During the event, visitors can enjoy kickboxing demonstrations, music from the Oughtibridge brass band, dance performances, an air cadet mini assault course, a penalty shootout, an inflatable football pitch and rides and a FIFA 15 computer game tournament.

    The event starts at 11am with the Unity Law Cup which will see teams from the Sheffield Wednesday disability team battle it out in a mini tournament.

    The main activities start from 12pm and the match kicks off at 3pm with the whole event compered by Chris Fox of Fox Audio.
