Martin’s Coast to Coast Cycle Ride
July 10, 2014
Martin Keogh completed the challenge of riding from Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast to the east coast near Sunderland over three days. Enduring a few tough hills but stunning scenery en route and he was even blessed with no rain! Martin tells us that thanks to gel shorts and seat he wasn’t even saddle sore! Martin’s wife Tristan was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2012, so he was riding to raise money by way of thanks for the support she received. Tristan said
“Thanks to all those who sponsored my wonderful husband Martin on his epic charity ride for the Cavendish Centre. On a personal note, I found the Cavendish Centre a haven during a difficult time both emotionally and physically post-surgery during my radiotherapy treatment. All of the staff were so welcoming, offering emotional support and I was able to try various complementary therapies, my favourite being the aromatherapy massage, soothing for both my mind and stiff shoulders. My visits to the centre really made a difference & helped me to cope. I will always be grateful to the centre and staff who selflessly donate the most special gift; their time.”
Many thanks from all at Cavendish to Martin and all his supporters
