  • High Sheriff of South Yorkshire visits

    February 25, 2022

We were delighted to welcome the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Martin McKervey to our home the Tim Pryor Centre this morning. He came to learn more about our vital work supporting cancer patients and their families.
Cavendish Chief Executive Emma Draper said
“It was a pleasure to welcome Martin and speak about our services, our goal at Cavendish is support as many people affected by cancer as possible. The High Sheriff comes into contact with so many people across South Yorkshire it’s great to know he’ll be able to signpost those in need towards our support”

The Office of High Sheriff is an independent non-political Royal appointment for a single year. The origins of the Office date back to Saxon times. Whilst the duties of the role have evolved over time, supporting the Crown and the judiciary remain central elements of the role today. In addition, High Sheriffs actively lend support and encouragement to crime prevention agencies, the emergency services and to the third sector.
