Fundraising Success this Christmas
January 2, 2019
Christmas 2018 has been a huge success for Cavendish Cancer Care, and we have YOU – our donors, volunteers and fundraisers – to thank for it. We have raised over £17,500, which covers the costs of full therapy courses at the centre for 46 people.
Here’s a look at just some of the things we got up to in December…
Marks & Spencer Bag Packing
All through the year volunteers and staff get stuck in packing bags on the tills of the M&S Food Hall in Fargate. The weekends in the run up to Christmas are the biggest bag packs of the year: there’s live music, santa hats, and a lot of happy customers!
This year, we were joined by all sorts of fantastic music acts such as Vivacity Choir, Hallmark of Harmony, Sheffield Harmony, and more. We are so pleased to announce we raised a whopping £4,454 over our four days bag packing in December. Thank you to all who gave up their time to bag pack or perform for us, and to everyone who put change in our buckets!
Watch this space for 2019 bag packing dates – if you’re interested in joining in the fun, contact Hilary on h.nugent@cavcare.org.uk to sign up to our no-obligation volunteer mailing list.
Our annual festive raffle was a big contributor to our festive fundraising. This wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of everyone who donated items for hampers, from pots of jam to bottles of champagne! We were so delighted with the response, so thank you to everyone who bought tickets and sold them to friends and family.
There’s been all sorts going on this Christmas – to name a few:
- Bake sales
- Pub quizzes
- Christmas Concert from Sheffield Folk Chorale (thank you to Roz for her hard work organising!)
- Donations in lieu of cards and gifts
- Hallamshire Round Table’s Santa sleigh rides
- Knitted donations of hats, tree ornaments and more to sell in our shop
- And more!
Our warmest thanks to everyone who supported Cavendish this Christmas – we are so grateful for every one of you! We hope you had a lovely festive season and are looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings.
