Coast 2 coast cycle challenge

On Thursday 25th July 2013 Phil Walsh and Alan Potts will be setting off on a bike ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth to raise funds for us. Their bikes have been serviced and prepared by the mechanics at Halford’s Kilner Way branch.They are aiming to dip their toes first in the Irish Sea and 150 miles later in the North Sea. ‘It’s an illness which cannot be cured, and the physical consequences of cancer can be difficult to bear: the surgery and follow up treatment particularly’ Phil says. ‘But often the psychological trauma is as great. Fear, loneliness, anger and depression are common side-effects.’  Phil, whose wife was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, feels the we deserve much greater support so is doing his bit.
