  • Cavendish Cancer Care announced as The Master Cutler’s Charity

    November 25, 2021

The Cutler’s Company was founded in 1624 to ensure the proper training and treatment of apprentices, for registering marks and to devise regulations to ensure the quality of workmanship.

It is governed by an elected Master, who holds office for one year, two wardens, six searchers (who originally had the right to enter property and search out badly or illegally made goods) and 24 assistants .As the face of industry in the region since 1624, the Company promotes and supports local manufacturing with the Master Cutler acting as its ambassador.

This year’s Master Cutler, James Tear of The Solpro Group, has been a member of the Company of Cutlers for over 17 years.  James and his wife Jo have kindly decided to support Cavendish through the Master Cutler’s Challenge and by raising awareness of our work. Earlier this month we were delighted to welcome the Master and Mistress Cutler to the Tim Pryor Centre.

A highlight to their year in office is the Master Cutler Challenge, which was initially launched by Gordon Bridge, at the time CEO of AES Seal, who took office as Master Cutler in 2007-08. The challenge has gone on to, become one of the largest annual fundraising events in the region. Over the years, the Challenge has inspired companies, organisations, schools and individuals to raise in excess of half a million pounds for local causes.

The great thing about this challenge is the collaboration of so many people coming together to support Cavendish, and raise vital funds for us to continue delivering our service. Everyone who gets involved is such an important part of the success of the challenge and legacy you will leave for those families affected by cancer who seek our help.

If you, your business or organisation, would like to be involved in the challenge please head to the link below or email us at hello@cavcare.org.uk to speak to one of our team.
