Cavendish benefits from Openwork Foundation Grant

Cavendish Cancer Care has been awarded a grant of £12,713 from The Openwork Foundation, which will fund more sessions of art and play therapy for children and young people affected by cancer.

The Openwork Foundation provides support to vulnerable people to improve their quality of life through their grant programmes. The generous grant will enable Cavendish Cancer Care to deliver more much needed sessions of therapy to children accessing support at the charity’s base in Sheffield. The grant will also enable to charity to look at ways to develop the Children’s Service including potential for sibling sessions and peer to peer support groups.

Cavendish Cancer Care Chief Executive, Emma Draper, said; “We’re so pleased to receive this grant from The Openwork Foundation to support our work with children and young people. At a time when fundraising is difficult, their support means we can continue to develop our offer to reach even more children in need. We would like to thank all the trustees and supporters of The Openwork Foundation for their support.”

Cavendish Cancer Care has been providing support to people affected by cancer in Sheffield and the surrounding areas for over 30 years. Uniquely, the charity offers support not just to those with a cancer diagnosis but also to family and carers of those affected. It offers a range of complementary therapies, counselling and bereavement support, plus online groups and courses all free of charge to anyone who needs it.

The Openwork Foundation is a part of Openwork, one of the UK’s leading financial advice organisations, and has supported local communities with grant funding and volunteer partnerships worth over £21.5m since 1981.
