Cavendish Cancer Care vacancy for an Assessor

Cavendish Cancer Care has a vacancy for a part time post of Assessor. Cavendish Cancer Care offers professional care and support, free of charge, to patients with cancer, to their main carer and to children. We provide assessment, counselling and a range of complementary therapies.

The role of Assessor is a vital one within the Centre and offers the opportunity to combine an existing knowledge of conventional medicine with an integrated approach to healthcare. Experience in working with patients with cancer or other serious illness is essential. In addition we are looking for someone with experience of working closely with mainstream healthcare and who has an interest in, or knowledge of complementary medicine.

The Assessor is the person whom patients see at their initial consultation. They work individually with each patient or carer, discussing with them their experience of the illness, their main concerns and ways in which the Cavendish might help them, including choosing an appropriate therapy. All the work we do is in addition to, and integrated with, any hospital treatment that the patient may be receiving.

We are looking for people with good communication skills, able to work in a person-centred way and also with the ability to work as part of a team. The post is part time, will involve working within a hospital setting, with flexible hours and is paid on an hourly basis. The work is often challenging, sometimes demanding and always rewarding. Full training will be given.

    Assessor Job Description

For more information about the post or if you are intersted in applying, please contact either Ann Hetherington or Delphine Sayre, Therapy Services Managers, at the Centre (0114 278 4600) or email a.hetherington@cavcare.org.uk or d.sayre@cavcare.org.uk
Closing date for applications is: Wednesday 18th February 2015 and the date for interview will be in the week commencing Monday 23rd February.
