  • 5 Easy, Affordable Ways to Donate to Cavendish

    August 28, 2019

Want to help Cavendish, but worried you don’t have the time or money for an elaborate fundraiser or donation? Don’t worry – there are loads of little things you can do to make a big difference for local people. Here’s just 5 ideas to get you started…

    Sofa Raid
Pull the sofa out from the corner, take the cushions off, and you’ll probably find quite a few pennies! Pop them in a jar, and repeat this once a month or so. To take it even further, you can check other places where money hides, such as under your car seats or in the kitchen drawers. Once you’ve stashed up enough change, bring it to Cavendish – we’ll happily count it for you and use it to support local people.

    Forfeit Jar
Maybe you swear like a sailor, always leave the lights on, or don’t take your muddy shoes off when you get in the door. A forfeit jar can work for anything – in the Cavendish fundraising office, we have a ‘wrong name jar!’ Find a jar, set your fine (maybe 20p, 50p or £1), and pay up! Keep this up into you’ve truly kicked your bad habit, and then donate the proceeds to us.

    Give It Up
Do you always need a biscuit (or three) with your cuppa? Have you had four cups of coffee by lunchtime? Try giving up your vice for a month – it’s a great way to improve your health. You can turn this into an easy fundraiser, too. Ask friends and family to sponsor you (it’s a great way to stay motivated!) You could also keep a ‘cravings pot’ – every time you fancy your forbidden object, pop 20p in the pot instead, and donate the proceeds at the end of the month.

    Flog it

With eBay, Facebook Marketplace and Depop, it’s never been easier to sell old clothes, toys, books or household items. Why not have an online ‘car boot sale’, and donate what you make to Cavendish?

    Retro Tech

If you have old, even broken phones knocking about the house, Cavendish can recycle them for a profit, which we then use to support local people. Drop your old mobile off at the centre, and we’ll do the rest!
