    Adventure awaits…

    Over the years we’ve seen brave Cavendish Cancer Care supporters take on all sorts of crazy challenges to fundraise for us, but did you know these challenges don’t have to be limited to British soil?

    If you’re keen for a challenge and fancy an adventure, or even the chance to travel to somewhere new for a good cause Global Adventure Challenges are offering Cavendish Supporters the chance to get 20% off!! on all challenges with their spring sale using the code SPRING18 at the checkout. There’s challenges to suit everyone with various difficulty levels, these include but aren’t limited to;

    • Trekking up Mt. Kilimanjaro
    • Cycling from London to Paris
    • Coast to Coast cycle through Costa Rica
    • Everest Base Camp Trek
    • Himalaya’s Trek
    • Lapland Husky Trail (Cavendish Supporter Kath is currently tackling this!)

    And loads more!

    If you’re wanting to adventure closer to home they’re also offering the spring sale discount on UK challenges, so that trek up the peaks you’ve been telling yourself to do for years? Now is the time to do it!

    Kath has just set off on her Arctic adventure with an 8-day husky sled-trek and has managed to raise over £11,000 all in aid of Cavendish, if this has inspired you to start your own adventure you can find all the information on the Global Adventure Challenges website but please also get in touch with us on fundraising@cavcare.org.uk so that we can help you on your way!

    Adventure Flashbacks;

    Kath isn’t the only one to have ventured overseas for Cavendish, back in 2013 we had the Travers family cycle all the way from Dronfield to Monte Carlo!! The courageous trio took on the challenge without a supporting vehicle, using only themselves, their bikes and their camping gear. You can read about the story here and see the gallery of photo’s here.

    Also in 2013 we had Lindsey Gill and her two daughters

    take on the mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro on an 8-day trek for Cavendish, Lindsay said “Kat and I were both very grateful for the kindness and care provided to us. We all want to ensure that this care remains available to people who are affected by cancer, and hope that our Kilimanjaro challenge may inspire people to support this worthy cause.

    It was a gruelling but unforgettable, and a remarkable journey to share with two of my daughters”

    All the way back in 2009 Paul Downing managed a great achievement in trekking all the way up to the Everest base camp! This changed him in that he had become more active since signing up; walking his new dog George on a daily basis, recruiting a personal trainer and being more careful with what he ate and drank. Paul said  “launching into such a ridiculous assault on Everest base camp without any preparation was a non-starter. I realised that once I had pressed the ‘confirm’ key on the computer keyboard, there was no turning back and I would have to give it a good go. And once I’d decided that Cavendish Cancer Care would be the beneficiary charity, it became much easier to focus the mind on the job in hand.

    Other adventures for Cavendish include trekking up Machu Piccu, coast to coast cycle rides in the UK and various countryside treks.

    Efforts in fundraising and donations like yours ensure that we continue our work as NHS funding only keeps us open for around 2 weeks a year, that’s why any fundraising attempt you do is very important to us, so why not have fun whilst doing it? If you’re not up to a massive adventure we still have plenty of other events coming up throughout the year that might take your fancy, or feel free to come up with your own ideas! Want to discuss a fundraising idea? Get in touch with us on fundraising@cavcare.org.uk or call us on 0114 2754070.
