Mike Pye – Cavendish Patron

All at Cavendish Cancer Care were deeply saddened to hear to the sudden and unexpected death of Cavendish Patron Mike Pye yesterday.

Mike has been a patron of Cavendish for almost 20 years following on from his term as Lord Mayor of Sheffield. During his year in office we were his adopted charity where he helped to spread the word of our work and also fundraised. His fundraising notably included abseilling down a hotel in the centre of Sheffield in full mayoral regalia. He continued to support and fundraise for us and was a massive adovocate and spokesman of the importantance of Cavendish services. He was always present at any of our balls and dinners, but also undertook his own fundraising which included bake sales, birthday fundraising and in 2020 a head shave as seen in the photo below.

His warmth and kindness will be missed by anyone who he came into contact with, and we’d like to express our deepest sympathy to his wife Jo and family.
