CAVENDISH CANCER CARE AND SPIRE CLAREMONT HOSPITAL JOIN FORCES FOR NEW CHARITY PARTNERSHIP

Cavendish Cancer Care is delighted to have been chosen by Spire Claremont Hospital, one of Sheffield’s leading private hospitals, as its new charity partner. The new partnership will see staff from Spire Claremont Hospital undertaking fundraising challenges for the Sheffield based cancer support charity, as well as offering opportunities for the two care providers to work together on local fundraising initiatives.

The partnership got off to a flying start during Spire Healthcare’s recent charity week, which challenged staff across its 39 hospitals to complete 40,000 kilometres together for their chosen charity. The team at Spire Claremont Hospital set up an exercise bike in their reception throughout the week for staff to get their kilometres in, whilst other team members completed walks, runs or swims to clock up the miles. The challenge raised over £1,000 for Cavendish Cancer Care and will be the first of many fundraising events over the year ahead.

One member of Spire Claremont’s team, Primary Healthcare Relationship Manager Nikki Keeley, has first-hand experience of the support given by Cavendish. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and was supported with wellbeing and nutrition advice from the charity. Nikki has rallied the entire hospital to vote for Cavendish Cancer Care as their chosen charity and so was thrilled to be able to support the charity on a deeper level.

Emma Draper, Chief Executive of Cavendish Cancer Care, said “We are thrilled to be announced as Spire Claremont’s charity partner and want to say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who voted for us. With one in two people affected by cancer at some point in their lives, our work in supporting people affected by cancer is more important than ever. There’s a strong synergy between our approach and the ethos at Spire Claremont and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together.”

This year, Cavendish Cancer Care celebrates 30 years of supporting people with cancer in the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire region. It offers complementary therapies, counselling and wellbeing support for people affected by cancer, as well as offering services on selected NHS hospital wards in Sheffield and Chesterfield.

Coincidentally, Spire Claremont Hospital is celebrating its 70 years anniversary this year in the South Yorkshire Community. The hospital is one of the leading private hospitals with a proud tradition of delivering high-quality care to people in Sheffield and nearby regions. The two local care providers are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
