  • The Perfect Summer Toolkit: Your Ultimate Guide to a Stress-Free Season

Preparing for the summer at work as well as at home is crucial to ensure you have an enjoyable and stress free season. So here is your very own summer toolkit for work/home and for those lucky ones, HOLIDAYS

Organise your schedule and make to-do lists

    – Prioritise your tasks at work. What needs doing this summer? What can wait until September?

    – Plan your summer events, make sure than it fits in with your personal and work schedule

    – If you are going on holiday, delegate tasks and initiate handovers to make sure things keep ticking while you’re away!

Prepare your mind and body for summer

    – Summer can be a stressful time to manage diaries and workloads when colleagues and clients are away, so make sure to be practicing self-care and plan in time to relax

    – Summer heat (especially in the UK) can cause added stress due to very warm working conditions so think about what stress management skills you could use to ensure that you are still productive in these conditions. For example if you are becoming overwhelmed, taking a moment and splashing your face with cool water can help.

    – Hydration is key so make sure that you always have water to hand (why not buy a refillable water bottle?)

    – Fuel your body and eat sufficient meals.

Stock up on summer essentials and prepare for temperatures

    – Stock up on suncream, just because its cloudy that doesn’t mean you wont burn!

    – When out in the sun wear protective clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and seek shade where possible

    – If you walk to work or you are spending time in the sun, make sure to check the UV rays and you have adequate protection

    – Does your office get really hot? Open that window and ask your manager to invest in a fan, good air flow will help with temperatures

    Give yourself a break

    – Ensure that you allow yourself some time to enjoy summer away from work and have a well deserved break!

    – Make sure to set work boundaries(i.e. putting on your out of office), its important to have a mental break from work

    Manage holiday travel stress

    – Share out tasks + plan ahead to give yourself plenty of time

    – Keep all documents safe and easy to find

    – Plan your budget and manage finances ahead of the holiday

    – If you are a nervous traveler or flyer make someone aware (a friend, family member or a flight attendant), share your mental load

    – Stay comfortable when travelling, wear comfy clothes and shoes, take a pillow or a blanket (if its cold)

    – Try some music to help you relax

    – Listen to your body, if you have a long journeys pack plenty of water and food, take breaks/naps if you need to. Keeping your body healthy helps to keep your mind happy 🙂
